Justin Heilenbach, Bryan Holmes and Kris Nelson founded Citizen Cider in 2010 on a hunch and some good old-fashioned hard work. Kris was working as a wine salesmen, Bryan as a chemist and Justin as a small farmer. All discontent for one reason or another, they started pressing sweet cider in Kris’s barn and fermenting test batches of hard cider in Bryan’s basement. As it happens, they discovered that their ideas about hard cider translated into some pretty unique and interesting finished products.

After cutting his teeth in sales for 15 years, Pete Giannopoulos opened the Sly Fox Brewhouse & Eatery in his hometown of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Over the years, the brewpub exposed many people to craft beer for the first time and started to grow its loyal, local following. After brewmaster Brian O'Reilly arrived in the Spring of 2002, he developed an off-premise sales program to gain Sly Fox beers a place on the taps at some of Philadelphia's best bars and taverns, greatly expanding the customer base.
Each of our beers is meticulously hand crafted in small batches using the finest ingredients. High quality malted barley is the source of the beer's sweetness and body. Select American and European hops are used to balance the malt sweetness, and at times to add special flavors and aromas to the beer.
